Overview

A template fills in the new issue dialog for you. Use a template for an issue that you create often, for example a bug report. Each template belongs to one team.

The Templates settings of a team, with two templates

How to create a template

  1. Open Settings.
  2. In the settings sidebar, open the team, and click Templates.
  3. Click Create template.
  4. Type the name in Template name.
  5. Fill in the form. The form is the same as the new issue dialog.
  6. Click Save template.

The template must have a name. The title is optional.

The form sets you as the assignee by default. The template keeps the values that the form has when you save it.

The form has a team control in its property row. The template belongs to the team that this control shows.

What a template keeps

A template keeps these values:

  • The title and the description.
  • The status, the labels, the priority and the assignee.
  • The project and the project milestone.

A template does not keep a Definition of Done, a cycle, a due date, modules or a capability. The template form lets you add sub-issues, but Vantik does not add them to the form when you use the template.

How to use a template

  1. Press C, or click the new issue button.
  2. Next to the team, click Template.
  3. Select the template.

The new issue dialog, with the Template menu open. The menu shows two
templates.

Vantik puts each value that the template keeps in the form. Each value replaces the value that the form had. If the template has no title, the form keeps the title that you typed. You can change the values before you create the issue.

The Template button shows only when the team of the issue has templates. The menu shows only the templates of that team.

How to change or delete a template

  1. Open the Templates settings of the team.
  2. Click ... on the row of the template.
  3. Select Edit or Delete.
  • Edit opens the form of the template. Change the values, and click Save template.
  • Delete asks you to confirm. Click Continue to delete the template.

Each member of the workspace can create, change and delete the templates of a team.
